A Technical Evaluation assesses the potential strength and value of patent(s) across three metrics: (a) patent strength, (b) encompassed technology, and (c) market indicia. At higher tiers, individual patent summaries or a Technical Evaluation Report is included.
Technical Evaluations are ideal to informatively guide those in evaluating, developing, or monetizing IP assets. Such evaluations are also used to support or inform IP Valuations, as they serve as an unbiased assessment of the technical merits of an idea, invention, or product. In the absence of a Technical Evaluation, we would need to rely on the patent owner’s or inventors’ own technical assessments, which may be perceived by external parties as biased.
A correspondingly tiered Technical Evaluation is included in each Financial Valuation offered. Alternatively, a Technical Evaluation may be performed independent of the Financial Valuation.

Technical Evaluation Tier 2
Summary: Tier 2 is a more thorough analysis relative to Tier 1, and expands the evaluation metrics to include a file history analysis, patentability review, enforceability review, litigation risks review, as well as expanded technical and market analyses.
Use Cases: This tier is designed for those who want a rapid, quantifiable approach to evaluating their IP assets, but a deeper and more accurate representation of the assets’ strength and value.
Deliverables: An evaluation metrics scoresheet with ratings for each patent across 30+ assessment parameters.
